Can I use WIFI on a no-service smartphone? by
[email protected]
I am unable to get suitable internet service at my home, because of the
rural location. I can only connect with a modem and all that is good for
is email and newsgroups.
Because I am retired I get a free Tracfone flip phone with 500 min per
month. It's a government program for low income. This...

Same phone on Ebay $20.
In another thread on here I recently posted I was just looking for a
smartphone to use at Wifi spots. For phone service my flip phone with
free service is fine. I was gonna buy a used smartphone from a neighbor

How does a Wi-Fi only tablet route on Google Maps when on the road? by
Ragnusen Ultred
Recently, I noticed that, on a WiFi-only tablet, the Google Map App was
"tracking" me while on the road, where the WiFi-only tablet definitely does
not have a GPS chip nor does it have a cellular capability.

Since this was a surprise to me that a WiFi-only tablet...

Philadelphia PA Area Data Options ? by
(PeteCresswell)
Philadelphia PA (USA) area.
Have been on tMob pre-paid for longer than I can remember.
But now I'm older than dirt and need a data option so that, if things
go South when I am on foot, I can summon Uber or Lyft.
The options that come to what's left of my mind:
1) Convert from pre-paid to a...

I'm looking for a site that has shopping agnet to list cell phones by
Yes
I'm a newbie in the market to find and buy a cheap (budget?) ($30)
basic GSM cell phone, NOT a smartphone and NOT CDMA. I'm not
interested, at least for now, in bells and whistles. T used my
previous cell phone before it broke maybe 2 hours every three weeks to

Technophobe needs new phone by

Ok, so I'm in the UK and use a 10+ yr old Nokia E5 but have never
connected it to the internet. The phone is getting old and battered and
most callers tell me I sound very faint so I suppose it's time to get a
new device.
I want a simple, easy to understand and use, internet friendly phone so

Boosting Signal Samsung SGH-E520 by
anon_private[_5_]
Hello,
Inside the house I get weak phone reception, the call is usually lost.
Does anyone know how to boost the antenna signal.
Looking at the inside of the phone, I see the battery and SIM and
nothing else. There are three screws but non look like an antenna
socket.

Phone Recommendations by
anon_private[_3_]
Hello,
I am having trouble with either my either my SIM or phone.
If it is the phone, I will need to consider buying a decent one.
My current phone is the very dated slide phone, and I want something
modern.
It must have an on screen keyboard and be unlocked.

Unknown icon by

Sorry: Accidental double post. Had a lot of trouble registering
I have an icon next to the E (Edge) icon on my phone. I cannot identify
it. I looks like a pair of headphones, but none are connected.
Does anyone know what this icon signifies.

Just a comment that root (so far) has been a lot of fun and functionality! by

After rooting last week to test out Android backup as compared to iOS
backup, I have been having a lot of fun adding functionality to Android!
In fact, I installed so many root-only apps that I had to create a special
folder for them on my one very well organized desktop (which I have...
